into sound.
"The glazed window
was an invention of great importance for the soundscape, framing external
events in an unnatural phantom-like ‘silence’. ...Today one
can look at one’s environment, while hearing another...”

Dancing is a bodily
reaction to sound and not hearing the music the dancer moves to makes
it phantom-like and silent. In order to understand the movement we need
the music. The photos are taken from behind a piece of glass, framed with
a grid to observe how the dancer moves within that grid.

'The house shelters daydreaming, the house protects the dreamer, the house
allows one to dream in peace. Thought and experience are not the only
things that sanction human values. The values that belong to daydreaming
mark humanity in its depths.'//Gaston

In the book Invisible
Cities by Italo Calvino, Marco Polo travels the world discovering different
cities and then reports back to Kublai Khan. He tells the stories of these
cities, describing them as fragments that could have been his own day-dreaming.
Marco Polo says to Khan: With cities, it is as with dreams: everything
imaginable can be dreamed, but even the most unexpected dream is a rebus
that conceals a desire or, its reverse, a fear. Cities, like dreams, are
made of desires and fears...
In the world there are both desires and fears in the daily life around
us varying immensely depending on where on the planet we live. We are
all in need of protection in the form of shelter and clothes, how they
look alters depending on location. They are both plans to fit around us
and when we need to leave the real world in order for our minds to run
free they shelter the body.

said in the past that they get everything they need from within a square
mile so I collected books that could be found within that mile. The grid
of these ten books where then put on the page in my book with the commandments
eiter within or outside the grid depending on whether G&G agreed with
the book or not.
